Fan fiction is one of the great unsung popular literary movements of the past 50 years, but finding what you’re looking for online can involve sorting through mountains of inadequately-tagged and frequently dodgy text. Archive of Our Own makes it easy: it’s the most carefully curated, sanely organized, easily browsable and searchable nonprofit collection of fan fiction on the web, and it serves all fandoms equally, from The A-Team to Zachary Quinto and beyond.

Did Damian ever tell you how he stole this from me?

Hollow [repost]

Title:  Hollow

Summary:  Dick Grayson is dead, and he’d be the first to tell you so himself.

Character(s): Damian Wayne, Dick Grayson

Genre: Angst/Family

Words: 175

Rating: T

Warnings for character death.

Damian presses his hand into the light, his fingers outstretched.  His reach touches nothing.

The tiny bright blue lights flicker across his skin, dancing through the darkness.

This body isn’t real, full of nothing but extraordinary delusions.

He should know; he watched the real one bleed out.

His father is a fool.  Death can be cheated, but life cannot be imitated.

The darkness hums to the glow of the light.  Damian withdraws his hand from where the heart should have been.  He turns on his heels, beginning to make his way up the steps. The image pulses, blurring.

Grayson is dead.

His footsteps echo through the cave, where the darkness gives no reply.

Damian pauses at the top of the steps, holding the door open to exit.  The white light slips down the stairwell.

“…Goodnight Grayson.”

The figure gives a weak smile, as if it really were him.  As if it could feel love, or feel pain.

“Goodnight, Damian.”

The last thing Damian sees is his stunning blue eyes shining in the never ending darkness.

A/N:  I could call this a quick drabble but I don’t really ever crank anything out.  Got the idea while watching Wreck it Ralph last night, hmph.  Because if Dick ever dies, I could see Bruce being unable to resurrect him, but unable to live without him, so he would create a hologram with his memories and personality.  Written in Damian’s viewpoint, because my heart aches for that kid.

Edit:  4/14/13:  Found this in my folder.  Not okay in light of recent Batman events.

Help me out guys?  Name or link to fanfiction where Dick rips his arm off saving Jason?
